Voluntourism Program
Voluntourism Program
In the wake of the pandemic, travelers’ behavior and buying patterns have changed intrinsically. They want to do more than just visit for sun, sand and sea, they want to be able to give back and leave a positive footprint. The Grenada Tourism Authority will embark on a Voluntourism Program – a form of tourism in which the traveler participates in voluntary work. Voluntourism is a current travel trend that has enormous potential for growth as persons become keen on giving back to developing communities.
Grenada aims to be the repository of all voluntourism activities that our visitors can engage in. We believe that when we reach visitors through initiatives that they are invested in, we get the benefit of knowledge transferal as well as increased levels of interaction with the community. This hands up rather than hands out approach will act as a catalyst for travelers to return to our shores year after year to see because they are invested in the cause. Thus, realizing our KPI of increasing repeat visitation.
